What is MediLux LED therapy?
MediLux is a medical-grade LED phototherapy system. Specific wavelengths of light pass comfortably into the skin, where they are designed to energise skin cells and support repair, renewal and balance. There are no needles and usually nothing to recover from, which makes it one of the gentlest treatments we offer.
At A Aesthetics we use MediLux on its own to calm breakouts and redness, as a regular boost for tired or ageing skin, and straight after treatments such as Secret PRO and skin peels to help support your skin’s natural healing.
What MediLux can help with
LED is gentle and suitable for most skin types, including sensitive and reactive skin, which we confirm at your consultation. Your practitioner will tailor the light programme to what your skin needs most.
How MediLux works: three wavelengths of light
Each wavelength reaches a different depth of the skin and does a different job. We combine them to suit your concern.
Blue light
Designed to target the bacteria linked to breakouts, it may help calm active acne without drying or irritating the skin.
Red light
Designed to energise skin cells and support collagen, which can help with smoother texture, softer-looking lines and a healthier glow.
Near-infrared light
Reaches deepest and is designed to help calm inflammation and support healing, which is why it is often used after other skin treatments.
Your MediLux treatment, step by step
Consultation
We look at your skin, talk through your goals and medical history, and confirm LED is right for you. Your consultation is complimentary.
Skin preparation
Your skin is gently cleansed so the light can reach it fully. If you are having another treatment the same day, LED usually follows it.
Your session
You relax under the MediLux canopy for around twenty minutes with protective eyewear on. It feels gently warm, and many patients drift off.
Afterwards
There is usually no downtime, so you can go straight back to your day and wear make-up. Many people notice calmer, brighter-looking skin within a few sessions.

MediLux LED therapy FAQs
Does LED therapy hurt?
Most people find it comfortable and relaxing. You will feel a gentle warmth and see a soft glow through your protective eyewear, and that is all.
Is there any downtime?
There is usually no downtime. You can return to work, exercise and wear make-up straight away. Some people notice a slight flush for a short while, which settles quickly.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin. Some people notice a glow after one session, while concerns such as acne, redness or ageing tend to respond better to a course of up to 12 sessions. We will recommend a plan at your consultation.
When will I see results?
Many patients notice brighter, calmer skin within the first few sessions. Changes in texture, fine lines and breakouts build over the course as your skin renews itself.
Is MediLux suitable for sensitive skin?
LED is non-invasive and is suitable for most skin types and tones, including sensitive and reactive skin, which we confirm at your consultation. It is often recommended because it is gentle on the skin.
Can I combine LED with other treatments?
Yes. LED after Secret PRO, peels or skin boosters may help reduce redness and support healing.
Is there anyone who should not have LED therapy?
LED is generally very well tolerated, but please tell us if you are pregnant, have epilepsy or light sensitivity, or take medication that makes your skin sensitive to light. We check this at your consultation before any treatment.
