What are professional skincare treatments?
Professional skincare treatments are in-clinic facials, chemical peels and skin programmes using medical-grade formulations from PCA Skin, AlumierMD and Obagi. Unlike a salon facial, they use active ingredients at professional strengths to target specific concerns such as pigmentation, breakouts, redness and dullness, and results can build with each session.
At A Aesthetics, every programme starts with a consultation, often alongside our Observ skin analysis, so we can choose the right peel, facial, microneedling or dermaplaning treatment for your skin. Our medical team provides professional skincare in Coleraine and Derry/Londonderry, and we pair your in-clinic plan with the right medical-grade skincare products for home, to help maintain your results.
What professional skincare can help with
Every programme is tailored to your skin type and concerns, and we adjust it as your skin changes through the year.
How professional skincare works
We combine three types of in-clinic treatment, choosing the strength and sequence to suit your skin.
Chemical and retinol peels
Professional peels from PCA Skin, AlumierMD and Obagi lift away dull, damaged surface cells to help even out tone, refine texture and clear congested pores.
Medical facials and dermaplaning
Deep cleansing, exfoliation and targeted serums refresh tired skin, while dermaplaning removes dead skin and fine facial hair for a smoother, brighter finish.
Microneedling
Tiny, controlled micro-channels prompt the skin’s natural repair response and are designed to support collagen, which can help with smoother texture, softer-looking lines and a more even surface.
Your professional skincare journey
Consultation
We assess your skin, talk through your goals, medical history and current routine, and may use skin analysis to guide your plan. Your consultation is complimentary.
Preparation
Some peels work best after a short period of preparing your skin at home with the right products. We will tell you exactly what to use and when.
Your treatment
Your practitioner cleanses your skin and applies your chosen peel, facial or microneedling treatment. Most people feel only mild tingling or warmth.
Aftercare and results
We give you clear aftercare and SPF advice. Results build with each session, and we review your skin regularly to adjust your programme.

Professional skincare FAQs
Do professional skincare treatments hurt?
Most treatments feel comfortable. Peels can cause mild tingling or warmth for a few minutes, and we take care to keep microneedling as comfortable as possible. Your practitioner will check in with you throughout.
Is there any downtime?
It depends on the treatment. Facials and lighter peels usually have little or no downtime. Stronger peels and microneedling can leave your skin red, dry or lightly flaking for a few days, and occasionally for up to two weeks. We explain what to expect before you book.
How many sessions will I need?
Results tend to build over time, so most people benefit from a course of treatments spaced a few weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. We recommend a plan at your consultation based on your skin and goals.
When will I see results?
Many patients notice fresher, brighter skin after their first treatment. Changes in pigmentation, breakouts and texture build gradually over a course as your skin renews itself.
Which skincare brands do you use?
We use PCA Skin, AlumierMD and Obagi, and choose between them based on your skin type and concerns. You do not need to know which is right for you before you come in, as we will advise you at your consultation. You can also explore our skincare products for home.
Is there anyone who should not have these treatments?
Some peels and microneedling are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection, or if you take certain medications that make the skin more sensitive. We check your medical history before any treatment.
Can I combine professional skincare with other treatments?
Yes. Professional skincare pairs well with MediLux LED therapy to calm and support healing, Laser Genesis for redness and texture, and skin boosters for deeper hydration.
How do I book?
