What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a regenerative skin booster made from highly purified fish DNA fragments. Injected into the skin, they are designed to support its natural repair processes, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, calming inflammation and improving hydration. Over time, skin may look and feel stronger, smoother and more resilient.
At A Aesthetics we use PhilArt by Croma, offering polynucleotides in Coleraine and Derry/Londonderry for delicate areas such as under the eyes, as well as the face, neck, décolletage, hands and scalp. Polynucleotides can be used on their own or as part of a wider skin booster plan, and may be combined with PRP where it suits your goals.
What polynucleotides can help with
Because they are gentle and regenerative, polynucleotides are well suited to thin, delicate or sensitive skin. Your practitioner will tailor the treatment to your main concern.
How polynucleotides work
PhilArt works with your skin’s natural biology rather than masking concerns. Its benefits come from three main actions.
Stimulating collagen
Polynucleotides are designed to encourage fibroblasts, the cells that build collagen and elastin, to become more active, which may help strengthen and firm the skin.
Calming inflammation
Their soothing, anti-inflammatory action may help settle irritated or reactive skin, which is why they can suit redness-prone skin types.
Deep hydration
Polynucleotides attract and hold water in the skin, which can improve hydration and elasticity for a smoother, healthier finish.
Your polynucleotide treatment, step by step
Consultation
We assess your skin, talk through your goals and medical history, including any fish allergy, and confirm polynucleotides are right for you. Your consultation is complimentary.
Preparation
Your skin is cleansed and a numbing cream can be applied, particularly for the delicate under-eye area, so you stay comfortable.
Your treatment
Small amounts of PhilArt are placed into the skin with a fine needle or cannula. Treatment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Aftercare and results
Small bumps and mild redness usually settle within 24 hours. Results build gradually over a course of 2 to 3 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart.

Polynucleotides FAQs
Do polynucleotide injections hurt?
Most people feel only mild discomfort. We use very fine needles or a cannula and can apply numbing cream beforehand, especially for the under-eye area.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Small bumps and mild redness at the injection points usually settle within about 24 hours. Occasional light bruising, most often under the eyes, can take a few days to fade.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people have a course of 2 to 3 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments. We confirm the right plan for you at your consultation.
When will I see results?
Polynucleotides work gradually as your skin repairs and renews itself. Many patients notice improvements in texture and brightness a few weeks after their first session, with results building over the course.
How long do results last?
Results vary from person to person and depend on your skin and lifestyle. Most patients keep their results with occasional maintenance sessions, which we plan with you at your review.
Who should not have polynucleotides?
Because PhilArt is derived from fish DNA, it is not suitable if you have a fish allergy. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have an active skin infection in the treatment area. We check your full medical history at your consultation.
Can I combine polynucleotides with other treatments?
Yes. Polynucleotides work well alongside other skin boosters, PRP and MediLux LED therapy. We plan the timing so each treatment supports the next.
